Stop wasting your time, this will be a failure unless SC2 has LAN play in the BETA or has been released by October.

Trust me, don't waste your time organizing a tourney only using bnet and expecting this game to even be released by October.

I agree with Immotal, this is most likely going to fail.  ..but hell, go for it Chaz, what is the worst that can happen.

I dunno immortal.
Blizz has a release date of July 27th already set out so the likelihood of that getting pushed back is slim. Additionally the friend feature of the game could easily help with a tourney system as a certain time is decided upon for the battle and a replay is submitted afterwards to prove that one person won. Through that, you could eliminate people and proceed to find a champion.

In my opinion i a SC II tourney as an entirely feasible goal.

There was a patch/hack released for the Beta, so I wouldn't be surprised if those clever gamers didn't find a way to do it with the release version as well...

As far as I know Miano, the hack was for the single player campaign only. Said hack allowed the user to play through the entire (not 100% sure) storyline, it did NOT allow for the use of LAN.
Recently a "pro" version was released by Blizz for use in tourneys that does allow the use LAN, however this "pro" version is only available for the duration of the competition. Additionally, a Blizz employee (to the best of my knowledge) physically watches over the version to prevent it from reaching the public. (Ten bucks its going to get torrented within 10 days of release)

I've already witnessed the failure of a SC2 tourney at UCF.  Supposedly you can't have numerous or just so many connections to bnet from the same IP.  Basically they never completed the tourney do to power issues, network issues, BNET issues.  They tried for like 6 hours.
