Now that the game is a few weeks away, I was wondering if BHN will be able to host a server as a 'trusted partner' of EA. It seems that at least initially, only trusted server providers will be able to host ranked games.  I know this was an issue with BF2.

BHN is not a GSP (Game Server Provider), and as such we do not meet the requirements to be a trusted partner of EA. : (

If they release "unranked", or "unofficial" server files, it might happen. Sorry.

That's took bad - BHN Detroit had the same problem.  How does a company like BHN become a GSP?

On a slightly different note - just out of curiousity, I googled my way to the Brighthouse main website for Tampa http://tampabay.brighthouse.com/default.aspx.  I wanted to see how easily a BHN Tampa customer [who also likes gaming] might find their way to this website.  I couldn't find anything on the main BHN website to point me here.  Has your company thought about providing a link to the gaming website on their main website?

Its Probably the same way as it was in Detroit. I found GSD gamming website and server's from my BHN home page when they were my ISP in Redford.

So what are we going to do to get in games together? I don't see renting from one of these GSPs as a viable option.

Xfire sounds like the easiest way.  Is BFBC2 on Steam?

BTW - I finally bit the bullet yesterday and put together a new system - it's System Builder Month at Microcenter:

Case - Cooler Master HAF 922 = $89.99
CPU - Intel i5-750 = $179.99
Cooler - Thermaltake Silent 1156 = $23.99
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 = $119.99
Memory - 4GB OCZ Gold DDR3-1600 = $79.99
Video Card - Visiontek Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 = $169.99
Hard Drive - 1 TB WD Caviar Black 32 MB Cache = $99.99
PSU - OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W = $95.99
O/S - Windows 7 Prem 64 bit = $109.99
   Total    $969.91

I'm planning to get a new 24-27" 1920 x 1200 monitor soon (right now using my crappy 1680 x 1050 Gateway 22").  Hopefully this build will allow me to play the new games at 1920 x 1200 with decent gfx settings.  I will be watching prices on the 5770 and probably grab a second card for SLI sometime this year if the games seem to demand it.

Back on topic - I'll be getting BFBC2 ASAP and joining in the fun with you peeps.  So some have dropped their pre-orders, some haven't - Is there a reason I should pre-order it?

the biggest reason for pre ordering was getting access at the beta. But the beta will be over next sunday since the game ships next week.

I see on Steam that there are 6 unlocks 'included at no extra cost!'.  Seems kinda weak to me - if your gonna pre-pay, they should give you something more than that!  I'll probably pre-order anyway just to make sure it starts downloading at the earliest possible opportunity! Grin

Alright. I've found a server that I'll try to use as a home base for us to play together.  I'm pretty that our older members remember Oren from the COD days.  I've been gaming with him for the past 7 years since the days of GSD.  He goes by the name of White Castle now and is the head of a 200+ member strong clan called the legion. www.the-legion.net.  I play quite a bit on their TF2 servers and use their Vent pretty much exclusively for chat.

They rent and manage their own servers and will be running a Bad Company 2 server. They would like to get it populated when the game comes out.  They're good group of people and I've played quite a lot of Borderlands and TF2 with them.  I think it would be an excellent place for those of us who are getting this.

I'll put up server information once it becomes available since we won't be able to run a BHN game server.
